Engine Shroud

In preparation for the first engine start, I needed to make this "cover" for the top of the engine. It will act as a plenum, or baffle, in order to direct air from the prop down through the cylinders for cooling. Normally, the top of the cowl would fulfil this purpose, but I want to be able to see the entire engine during its first few runs. I used some thin galvanized sheet metal normally intended for heating ducts. It is reinforced with 1-inch aluminum angle.

Total Time: 6.0 hrs.
