Firewall Flange

The next step (while the cowl is still in one piece) is to mount it to the firewall. To accomplish this, I used some 3/4 x 1/16 aluminum angle and lined the perimeter with it. For the top (where it is curved), I made cuts every inch and a half to facilitate bending. I placed nut plates every three inches or so for fastening. (I was originally going to use those fancy 1/4-turn CamLoc fasteners, but at almost $10 a piece for the recommended ones, and $7 a piece for the "lighter duty" ones, I decided it was too cost-prohibitive.)

Total Time: 17.5 hrs.
